Leopard Gecko
Eublepharis macularius
Leopard geckos are ectothermic, meaning they need heat from their environment. For example a nice warm rock or a heat pad.
Leopard geckos in the wild will detach their tails in order to out run prey. The mindset is that the predator will go for the dropped tail instead of the leopard gecko. Leopard geckos then will slowly regrow their tails over time to build up fat reserves. This tea pot lid mimics the leopard geckos defense mechanism.
